Exciting Season

It would be an understatement to say that our lives have changed drastically in the last year.

On September 16, 2024 we pulled into the driveway of our home here in Honduras and were welcomed by 15 plus people, ecstatic to meet our sweet baby girl. At that point she was only 5 weeks old, but from that moment on she has been loved so well by our big, unconventional family.

We have done the math, and the front door of our house gets knocked on nearly 5,475 times a year (if you’re putting a pencil to that, it’s roughly 15 times a day). It’s always something different but I think we can confidently say that this number has increased just simply because of the amount of times the kids come over to visit Ruthie. They love to come in and sit down on Ruthie’s blanket with her, play with her or read her a book.

With this all being said we have experienced so much change in this last year. We definitely have had to lean into and commit every step of the way to Christ as not only we learn the ropes of being parents to a baby but additionally parenting teenagers.

Season of change

  • Our baby girl is 8 months old and growing everyday!

  • Welcomed 3 new long term placements to our Home. This is a sibling group with ages from 6-10.

  • We have welcomed onto the Children Home Campus one new teenager and his older brother who are not formally in our care but are quickly becoming part of the family here.

  • Reagan returned to school part time in November. This is the first year she hasn’t been a grade level teacher which is a big change. She works with 1st-4th grade teaching some classes, tutoring students and supporting teachers.

Despite the changes that life brings, we are grateful to have a God who is near and isn’t surprised by anything. He is a constant in our sometimes chaotic days.

Praises:

  • Ruthie was granted her legal resident status in Honduras!

  • The transition with our new kids is going better than expected.

  • Our two teenage boys took their university entrance exams and knocked it out of the park! We are so proud of them.

  • We did a food drive with the kids and were able to share with 13 families and the kids prayed over each family and home.

  • Chase’s parents and brother were able to visit and encourage us and love on the kids.

  • Reagan’s parents are coming soon. Spencer will be teaching at school and Candace looks forward to soaking up lots of time with Ruthie Ray.
