New year BIG changes!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Since my last newsletter life has taken me by storm. Even in the whirlwind that began the moment my feet touched down in Honduras again I wanted to update you about how God has been working and equipping me daily to serve him.

Children's Center

Children’s center has taken on a new leadership team and so naturally there are a lot of transitions happening. As with all change, it will take me some time to get used to. As much as change can be uncomfortable, it's a joy and privilege to walk through these changes with the kids in real time. Each time I look at my children’s center kids I am filled with extreme amounts of joy. God has and will continue to do incredible things with them.

EXCITING NEWS!! I am officially on the children's center work schedule, and I had my first full day shift last Saturday. My day included helping plan birthday games and joining our teen boys in fun outdoor activities. Nothing crazy different from my normal involvement BUT I am just officially on the schedule. 28,000 steps and over 12 miles later, my first 14 hours shift was done and boy did I hit my pillow hard that night.

School

After a semester of our COVID Hybrid Learning tutoring, El Camino is back open at full capacity. And yes I mean full! Every classroom on our campus is being used daily for kids from 4 to 15. Personally, I have transitioned into the role of co-teaching 2nd grade with my dear friend Guildy. Guildy is in university studying elementary education and I’m so excited for the opportunity to work with her everyday. Because we worked together last year at recess we already know we make a great team. By nature, co-teaching looks different than the roles I held in the past. I’m used to getting my steps in moving all around the school and interacting with kids from 1st-8th grade. I also do not get the same amount of time with the whole school, but I’m so excited to really dig in with the 2nd grade. I am excited to see what God does with it.

Life in ministry of any kind calls on you to wear lots of hats and wake up each morning ready to face whatever the day throws at you. We can never be fully ready for what’s coming at us but I rest knowing that God is always in my corner and prepares me for all the unforeseen challenges and joys of each day. In describing my life here I truly said: “You just sort of run and just get hit by trains as you go. And ask God to pick up all their pieces.” We can only do the best with what God has given us and feel honored that He invites into His great plans.

Praises

  1. Each day I am learning and being stretched in new and often uncomfortable ways.

  2. It's great to be back with the kids after being in the states for a few weeks.

  3. For this truth “If God is for us who can be against us.” Romans 8:31

  4. AND THIS ONE “The Lord your God is in your midst- a warrior bringing victory. He will create calm with his love; he will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Prayers

  1. That the transition in work and home will continue to go smoothly.

  2. That I will actively be learning the language.

  3. That God will continue to provide for me financially. If you have any questions about my financial needs please reach out. I intend to be fully transparent.

  4. Also that God will continually renew my spirits and energy.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or desired updates and I will make sure to get back to you. I appreciate your prayers and support greatly. I am so undeserving of those of you that have supported me through this journey.

“God, I lay down my fears, my worries, and burdens. May I guard my heart and mind in You. Give me strength and go before me.”

Thank you!
