Summer Update

I (Chase) entered this document to start writing this newsletter, and I prayed to God this, “God, what is it that you want us to write about, how can I put into words the last few months?” And the Holy Spirit instantly brought this verse to my mind. A verse that I have found rolling off my tongue.

“I lift my eyes to the mountain, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and the earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

So here we are Jesus,

In the morning when we rise, may we have the desire to meet you. May that desire not stop as we leave our secret places. A desire that burns within from the moment we rise to the moment we rest.

May our heart posture be a posture of praise.

It’s in your presence, we live, let our hearts cry out in praise, in awe of Your wonder and might.

Be our last thought on our mind when we lay our heads down, be our 24/7.

We lift our eyes to the mountains, You are where our strength comes from. The Maker of heaven and Earth. Our Savior. Our Father.

Casa de Ninos

Chase works on the Admin team at the children's home, additionally we live on the children's center campus. This gives us numerous opportunities to interact and grow our relationships with the kids at the home. Our kids are growing like weeds and seem to have endless energy. Since school let out for the summer we got to spend many hours at the beach with them, celebrating birthdays and a house event to go to the movies in La Ceiba.

El Camino School

This summer newsletter means that we have wrapped up another school year at El Camino. This year Reagan taught 3rd grade and served on the school’s admin team. Chase taught Bible for 1st-10th grade, daily chapel and philosophy. In May we had graduation and our end of the year school program. The program was designed to recognize students for their hard work throughout the year. We had awards for perfect attendance, academic excellence and our character values. Our students also sang 3 worship songs which were taught by Vicki Smith and Reagan’s sister Hattie during their visit. Additionally, we asked three students to share and they did a phenomenal job. It was a moment where we got to see the fruit of their time at El Camino. Two of the girls who shared just graduated the 9th grade. One of the girls shared the Gospel in front of the few hundred people that were at the program. The next girl shared that an amazing advantage of being bilingual is that she can share the gospel in two languages. Teaching is challenging work and sometimes at the end of the day I (Reagan) wonder if what I’m doing is working. There is a line in “Hamilton'' that says “planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.” Sometimes this is how teaching feels but this program really gave us a glimpse into the garden that God is growing through these students.

Praises

  • We are so grateful to each and every one of you who support us through prayer and financially. It makes our day to day work possible. Your donations are used in various ways that enrich the ministry and lives around us. If you have any questions about the financial aspect of support or what your donations are going toward please feel free to reach out!

  • Reagan’s sister, Hattie, and friend, Vicki, came to visit in April and taught music at school. The week was such a blast and the kids loved the music. This was Vicki’s fifth trip to Honduras and it was such an encouragement to our hearts and ministry!

  • Recently we have had the privilege to work on a passionate team of people doing evangelism events in our community. In April we had a Worship night in Balfate, the local town. Hundreds of people came for worship, a the sharing of the Gospel and fellowship. In June we had an event call “Encontrar” or Encounter. This was a two day event designed for local youth to have an encounter which Christ and then give them the tools to share about God’s love in their own communities. God provided amazing teams for these events and we look forward to continuing with more events as the Lord leads.

Prayer Requests

  • Our school is still in the process of recruiting teachers. Please join us in praying for God to send the perfect people who are passionate about the vision of El Camino.

  • Reagan continues to have chronic hives (diagnosis chronic idiopathic urticaria). This has been going on since march of 2022 and so we ask that you would continue to pray that they would come to an end and that we would grow to trust God more in the process.

  • Please pray for wisdom in all areas of our work

  • The 2023-2024 school year starts on August 1st. We ask for prayers as we prepare for this upcoming school year.

Thank You,

The Grays
